About
Kennett is an independent art consultancy based in Santa Barbara that helps individuals and businesses discover and acquire contemporary art.
Many people are new to collecting and often unsure where to begin. Despite so many artists looking to have their work seen, the industry can still feel intimidating and opaque. At the same time, many people are motivated by a desire to support artists and bring singular works into their homes.
Offering personalized guidance in art collecting and collection management, Kennett is grounded in a belief that art should be accessible and inclusive. Each engagement is tailored to a client’s interests, resources, and long-term goals, providing clear, informed guidance that makes collecting art approachable and engaging.
Meet the Founder
Kennett was founded in 2025 by Rachel Heidenry. I hold degrees in Art History from Bard College and New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts, with a specialization in modern and contemporary art of the United States and Latin America. With over a decade of museum experience, as well as years working in digital agencies, I bring extensive experience and insight into working with contemporary art and managing complex projects.
My favorite items to collect include documentary photography, self-taught art, and contemporary ceramics.
Why the name Kennett?
I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, on a small street named Kennett Place in Lafayette Square. The name reflects my family’s history and roots in historic preservation, and is a tribute to the importance of continuity and place that grounds so much of my work.
